Whilst we know that the area know as Espace Mont Blanc covers 1,100 miles of extraordinary and accessible skiing and snowboarding, it is fast becoming a hotspot for European road cycling and mountain biking.
Our self-catering apartment is 150 metres away from the Bellevue Cable Car together with the bus stop giving access to the vast number of other areas in the Chamonix Valley.
Fully equipped and furnished to a high standard with HD TV, dishwasher, washing machine and balconies with views of the valley. Within 150 metres there are three good restaurants, three bars (two also serve food), a good selection of shops including ski and bike hire shops.
For road riders the Chamonix Valley is set in the heart of the Alps with its opportunities to ride the famous Cols: Col de La Colombiere, Col d'Aravis, and Joux Plane. Every June sees the famous "Time Megeve Mont Blanc" (a cyclosportive endurance event) and in September the "Houches Hard" (a mountain time trial race).
For mountain biking there are about 3,700 metres of vertical between the valley and Mont Blanc with the highest lift at 3,842 metres that means miles and miles of steep, technical single track to satisfy the hungers of even the most hardcore downhillers. In practise the best riding is off the many téléphériques (gondolas) that ring the valley. Six ski stations surround the village and lift access to any of them is only a short spin away. Trails descend in all directions and offer a wide variety of riding. For a full article on the area for mountain bikers from dirtworld.comclick here.
